WCMRC Strategic Plans

As you've read about in previous posts, last year SpillConsult was asked by WCMRC to draft a number of strategic plans that outline their incident management philosophy and operational capability.

It's encouraging to see these important documents now being released and to receive constructive feedback from the team.

The Marine Response Plan is the most recent of the WCMRC plans to be launched and, to kickstart the feedback process, this week SpillConsult hosted a workshop to introduce the plan's contents and to discuss the priorities and guiding philosophy it sets out.

The central themes of the plan are responding effectively to achieve net environmental benefit and ensuring clear communication between teams working on the water and the supporting functions based at the Incident Command Post.

The plan earned positive feedback from Directors, Managers and Base Supervisors, many of whom already apply the industry best practice and technical expertise described in the plan when responding to 'oil on the water' incidents around the coast of British Columbia.

We're looking forward to supporting additional workshops and continued engagement later in the year!
