ICS 300 training for BP, Ineos and Total

In September, SpillConsult held an open ICS 300 course in Aberdeen, and were pleased to welcome delegates from BP North Sea, Ineos and Total.  Over three days, the delegates refreshed their knowledge of the Incident Command System and learnt how to transition from the ‘reactive’ response into the forward-thinking ‘proactive’ phase.  The course took delegates through the various stages of the ‘Planning P’ and finished with an exercise on SpillConsult’s fictitious island of Komoko.   During the exercise and throughout the course the delegates worked as a team to respond to an oil spill scenario and put everything they had learnt about ICS into practice, resulting in a completed Initial Action Plan for the coming Operational Period.

We received some great feedback from the delegates who attended the course.

How would you rate the three-day course programme? - "Very good and very interactive", "Great balance between teaching content and practical", "Very good, detailed and comprehensive"

How would you rate the presenters? - "Excellent knowledge. Enthusiasm and good pace of delivery", "Very good knowledge, very clear, good humour, kept course on track", "Good teaching style, extensive experience in the field "

Well done team!

The Incident Command System is a standardised approach to the command, control, and coordination of emergency response providing a common hierarchy within which responders from multiple agencies can work effectively.  ICS was initially developed to address problems of inter-agency response to wildfires in California and Arizona but is now used internationally by governments and private industry alike.

SpillConsult have delivered ICS training globally since their inception in 2012 and have some of the most experienced and knowledgeable trainers in the field.  Open courses are regularly held in Aberdeen or can be arranged to suit you and your business need.  SpillConsult also offer the introductory ICS 100 and ICS 200 courses via their e-learning portal as the first step on your journey to becoming ICS-literate.
