Virtually Jet Lagged?
It’s been a quiet morning here at SpillConsult, as many of the team are taking some well-earned rest in preparation for a very late start tonight.
This evening we will kick off our virtual training exercise with Western Canada Marine Response Corporation, working across multiple time zones to prepare the Canadian team for a worst-case scenario.
As most of the UK team head home for the day, we’ll be settling in to guide a simulated spill incident through our tailored Virtual Incident Command Post (VICP). Our VICPs are designed with the practical needs of responders in mind, using technology to replicate the functionality of an in-person Incident Command Post within a virtual environment. Plans, maps, timelines, clear lines of communication, and staged fictional media coverage are all provided to help the team manage the incident as they would a real spill.
Our staff will be on hand to provide expert guidance and technical support throughout the exercise this evening, finishing at the office around midnight. Here’s hoping they won’t be too jet-lagged tomorrow after their virtual trip to English Bay, Vancouver!
Please reach out if you would like to know more or discuss creating a VICP for your organisation.
