Company Director Stuart Gair and trainer John Halfacre spent last week in Houston, Texas, piloting a newly developed Incident Command System (ICS) course for a client.

Over the four-day programme, delegates explored how ICS principles, structures, and processes can support effective response and management of dynamic and complex incidents.

As with all SpillConsult ICS courses, the training blended academic input with practical application - including table-top scenarios, interactive quizzes, and culminating in a full Incident Management Team (IMT) exercise.

While focused on delivering the course, Stu and John were also able to make the most of a rare free day, catching a Houston Astros MLB game. Thanks to their excellent host Trish McIntosh, PhD, CEM, they also enjoyed some fantastic food and experienced a taste of Texan life.

Spending time away from home for work can be demanding, but opportunities to experience local culture always help make it worthwhile.
