This course is aimed at personnel who may fulfil a role within a Shoreline Cleanup Assessment Technique (SCAT) Team during an oil spill response, including responders, supervisors, environmental advisors, and incident management personnel.
SCAT has been designed to provide you with a technical understanding of the Shoreline Cleanup Assessment Technique and its application during oil spill response operations. The course provides delegates with the knowledge and skills to actively contribute to a SCAT programme, from the initial reactive phase through to a fully planned, structured, and scalable shoreline assessment process.
Topics include understanding the behaviour and weathering of oil on shorelines, assessing impacts on different shoreline types, the principles and methodology of conducting SCAT surveys, and the role of SCAT within overall incident management.
